Doina Vin
This company’s history began in 1875 when a Polish squire moved to Moldova and began making wine. In the second half of the 20th century, the winery was reconstructed and began producing wine for soviet republics.
The modern story of this winery only began in 1993, when Moldova gained its independence and the winemaking industry entered a new era of growth. Today, Doina Vin has 1 500 ha of grapevine plantations, and the capacity to produce 6000 bottles/hour, as well as export 4.4 million bottles/year. The winemaking factory grows white grape varieties such as Muscat, Traminer and Aligote on the plantations closer to the north of Moldova; red varietals such as Merlot, Cabernet and Pinot Noir are grown on southern plantations. The wines age in Californian and Caucasian oak barrels for at least 2-3 years.
