“Grigio’s” Style
The refreshing style of Pinot Grigio has a well-earned spot on the wine shelves of many countries. Some of the most used characteristics would include dry, light, the aroma of green apples and lemons as well as a fruity color.
“Grigio” comes to life by means of an early harvest. The reason behind this? To harvest and keep as much of the grape’s fresh acidity, which is not that high in the grape itself.
In order to keep the wine’s ‘freshness’ its fermentation and aging occurs in steel tanks. Using barrels would make the wine harsher and add notes of vanilla, which would essentially strip the wine of its simple and “clean” personality.
Pinot Grigio should be consumed at a young age – within the span of one or two years after its harvest.
